Canon just released a teaser giving us a sneak peek into the development of its next full-frame mirrorless camera, the EOS R3. Even though it’s still early days, it looks as though it’s set to overtake the EOS R5 as Canon’s flagship mirrorless camera.
EOS 1D line, being weather and dust resistant too. Canon has said that the EOS R3 will be the first camera to use an innovative 35mm full-frame stacked CMOS sensor with backside illumination. This indicates that there will be faster readout speeds, decreased rolling shutter and powerful noise performance.
The sensor will also maintain Canon’s Dual Pixel AF design and will be created and manufactured by Canon. The electronic shutter will support 30fps burst shooting with AF and AE tracking. It will also be the companies first digital camera to feature the new Eye Control Function for moving AF points with your eye. It will use the location of the photographer’s eye to pick the first position for autofocus or subject tracking. Deep learning technology will be used to better improve the identification of subjects from the torso up. This will help better its performance in challenging circumstances like sports photography.
But that’s not all…
Not only has canon announced the development of the EOS R3, but they have also launched three new RF mount lenses: The RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM, the RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM and the RF 600mm f/4L IS USM.
The Canon RF 600mm f/4L IS USM Lens is excellent for sports, wildlife, and nature shooting and was created solely for the EOS R-series cameras. This telephoto lens is characterised by its exceptional, lightweight design, fast and intuitive handling, and high-speed performance. Optically identical to the EF 600mm f/4 IS III USM lens, this RF 600mm features three modes of optical image stabilization with up to 5.5 stops of shake correction to produce extremely sharp results.
Optically identical to the super-telephoto EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III USM lens, the Canon RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens produces high-performance results. Like the RF 600mm it’s a go-to choice for capturing professional-quality shots of sports, wildlife, and more. The lens features the same three modes of optical image stabilization as the 600mm with up to 5.5 stops of shake correction. It features a circular nine-blade aperture that provides beautiful bokeh at smaller lens apertures. It has Super Spectra and Air Sphere Coatings that reduce ghosting and flare for exceptionally sharp results when shooting in backlit situations.
The Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens combines a medium-telephoto field of view with a sleek design and close-focusing performance. Created for close-up imagery, this lens is an excellent choice for portraits and macro subjects. This lens features a fixed 100mm focal length, a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture and quick, highly accurate autofocus. It also has a spherical aberration control ring which advances the look of portraits and macro shots. It gives you the ability to create dreamlike and romantic images with a soft-focus look. The close focus design enables working with subject matter as close as 26cm away, and a Super Spectra coating minimizes ghosting and flare when working in strong lighting conditions.
No details have been published on the pricing or availability for the EOS R3 just yet. We will keep you updated on any additional details that get announced by Canon.
